Marathon

For 2010 there is a new marathon course.  Many of you have wished for a Lost Dutchman Marathon which did not include a significant hill at mile 23; in 2010 you will get your wish.  The good news for marathoners is that the last 6 plus miles of the marathon are downhill and relatively free from dips. Dutchman's Revenge is no more! This the best opportunity you will have to come out and set a new open or masters course record and take home some money. Visit our marathon course page or marathon map pages for additional details.

1/2 Marathon, 10K, 8K & 2-Mile Courses

For 2010 half marathoners, the course is now flatter and faster than before. You will no longer pass over Dutchman's Revenge going and coming, and due to the new route there are a lot fewer dips.  We have created running lanes to avoid conflict with oncoming runners when you are returning to the finish line!

The 10K race can now be described as flat and fast with few turns, You will no longer turnaround on Dutchman's Revenge.

We will still have the wall for all 10K, Half Marathon, and Marathon Participants to pass through.

There will be mile markers on each race course.

The Half Marathon begins and ends in Prospector Park, and is an out-and-back over the last 6.55 miles of the Marathon course. The course is changed for the 2010 event to be flatter and faster. We have a designated lane for runners going toward the turnaround and a return lane when you are headed for the finish line to avoid conflict with oncoming runners and walkers. You will notice a gradual incline as you run toward Superstition Mountain and an equivalent decline on the way back. There are no significant hills. The course is paved, but there are significant stretches of freshly graded shoulder if you prefer to run on dirt.  The half marathon course is certified (AZ10015TLB ) through 2020.

The 10K begins and ends in Prospector Park, and is an out-and-back over the last 3.1 miles of the Marathon course. The course is all on pavement, with broad freshly graded shoulders much of the way if you prefer to run on dirt. The route is relatively flat and will be much faster in 2010 than prior years. The course includes a slight incline going out and decline coming back to the finish line. There is no time limit for the 10K, HOWEVER, walkers and slow runners should be aware of faster half marathoners approaching from behind and sharing the return lane; please be courteous.

The 8K is a Desert Trail Run starting and ending in Prospector Park. The course is mostly on dirt trail in the northern and eastern portions of the park that is undeveloped. The only elevation changes are where the course crosses dry washes, otherwise the course is flat. It should be considered relatively easy as trail courses go. There is no time limit for the 8K.

The 2-Mile Family Fun/Run Walk starts and ends in Prospector Park, and loops out onto Idaho Road.
