Marathon Course Description and Maps
All Courses except 8K: Lost Dutchman Course Map
There will be mile markers on each race course.
The Half Marathon begins and ends in Prospector Park, and is an out-and-back over the last 6.55 miles of the Marathon course. The course is all on roads, mostly paved with some stretches of dirt. The dirt portions are closed to vehicles. The first and last 4 miles are closed to vehicles. The elevation is mostly up hill going out and declining on the way back. There is one significant hill at 10 miles that is 1 tenth of a mile from bottom to top with a 50' elevation change. There is NO time limit for completion of the half.
The 10K begins and ends in Prospector Park, and is an out-and-back over the last 3.1 miles of the Marathon course. The course is mostly on pavement with the 4th mile on dirt road. The entire course is closed to vehicles. The course is mostly an incline on the way out with one hill at 3 miles. At the top of the hill is the turnaround and the course declines going back to the finish line. There is no time limit for the 10K.
The 8K is a Desert Trail Run starting and ending in Prospector Park. The course is mostly on dirt trail in the northern and eastern portions of the park that is undeveloped. The only elevation changes are where the course crosses dry washes, otherwise the course is flat. It should be considered relatively easy as trail courses go. There is no time limit for the 8K.
The 2-Mile Family Fun/Run Walk starts and ends in Prospector Park, and loops out onto Idaho Road.
Aid Stations: There are aid stations every 2 miles on the marathon course for the first 20 miles and then an aid station every mile to the finish. Sports drinks and energy gels are provided at selected aid stations throughout the course. For the 10K and Half Marathon courses there are aid stations every mile. For the 8K trail race there is one aid station that all runners will pass twice. There are port-a-jons near every aid station.
Courtesy Clothing Drop: There will be clothing bag drop zone in Prospector Park for the convenience of the runners not wishing to return to their cars.
